It's officially official now! We had the first ultrasound, and Pewfie #3 (Codename: P3) is healthy and doing well. P3 will be 13 weeks along tomorrow, and is due around November 18.
In other news...
Updates have been few and far between, which Tonia and I regret terribly. Hopefully one day our kids won't have to ask "Why is there no written and/or photographic evidence that we existed between the ages of 2 and 16?". I have a few years to come up with a story they'll believe...
The last entry was written on St. Patrick's day, and the day I arrived in Ottawa while Tonia and the boys stayed in Newfoundland. That began a very dark time for all of us, as it was nearly 2 months before we saw each other again. I'm not built to withstand separation of more than 24 hours from my family, and don't wish it upon anyone.
The idea behind the separation was for me to find work and "get established", before everyone came up to join me. That didn't work out anything like I had hoped it would, as the job hunt was quite miserable to be honest. A few interviews, and lots of dissapointment. Eventually we decided that regardless how poorly things were going, we were going to face this together as a family.
They were booked on a flight for the last week of April, but about 72 hours prior to their departure...Kadin developed a stomach flu which spread to both Tonia and Declan. Declan only had a mild fever, but one night when his nanny was putting him to sleep, he had a seizure.
Likely the worst moment in my life was getting a call from Tonia where she, in tears, said "Declan had a seizure, we're waiting for the ambulance to take him to the hospital".
It was diagnosed as a fibrial (or fever induced) seizure, and the doctors report it has no lasting effects. We just have to aggresively treat any other fevers he has until the age of 5.
So needless to say, flight was rebooked for the following week. I could swear both boys grew a foot since I last saw them, but Tonia says I'm just being foolish.
We're settling into a comfortable routine at my parents house. Kadin is enrolled in school (Junior Kindergarden) in the afternoons, which is awesome. Declan enjoys leaping off the top of staircases and punching me in the face. That's not so awesome, but he seems to be enjoying himself.
Life is beginning to look up a little bit more, as I received a job offer from Bell today. It's an entry level position and the money isn't great, but it's an opportunity with a company that I'd love to work for and has the potential to grow into something else. Gotta stay positive, eh?
I'll work on getting pictures up, because I know our three readers enjoy pictures much more than reading my dry, rambling posts. And by try..I mean Tonia will do it when she has time!
