Clarification.....

Just so people know what appears to be bruises on Kadin's arm in some of the below "pool" pics are remnants of tattoos.

A few people have asked so its best to clear this stuff up. :)

Too tired to try

Today the world nearly ended. We gave Kadin chocolate cake. With icing. Chocolate icing. And sprinkles. Chocolate sprinkles. It seemed a good idea at the time, though when he was screaming at me through a chocolate covered face "BABU I WANT ICING!!!!" then smeared his icing covered face all over the patio window, I should have realized The Devil had Returned.

Ok, let's forget about the great cake disaster of August 9th and look back over the last few weeks with Kadin.

We love him to bits, but my god he's been a handful! A lot of negative behaviours have started to emerge, though we're doing our best to face them calmly and teach him a better way. Here's an example of a typical encounter with Bad Kadin.

Kadin: I want milk.
Hasan: How do we ask for something?
Kadin: PLEAASE gimme milk PLEAAAASE
Hasan: *goes to cupboard*
Kadin: *suddenly screaming* I WANT MILK
Hasan: *Ignoring screaming and reaching for a blue glass*
Kadin: *Screaming again* NO BABU I WANT ORANGE GLASS
Hasan: Kadin, KADIN, stop screaming!
Kadin: *Falls to the ground, closes his eyes and screams* ORAAAANGE GLASSSS

These situations generally work out in a positive way (and by positive I mean he eventually stops screaming or crying, and we thank each other for listening), but the frustrating thing is that nearly every time he asks for something it escalates to him screaming for no real reason.

We realize that this behaviour is likely just a "phase", or however the books would like to describe them. Also, with all the last minute preparations for the baby he's probably picked up on how pre-occupied Tonia and I have been and so is lashing out. Ok, maybe not as harsh as that but I can't think of a better word.

Tonia can also tell that her being so tired and just not having the energy to work through every discipline issue as she normally would, contributes to him testing his boundaries with us. We don't think for a second that he's a bad child, but in the last couple of weeks he's given new meaning to the word brat!

There are still shining moments with him of course. Just a few minutes ago, after spending 2 hours on a chocolate fueled high, he asked me to sing Twinkle Twinkle little star and then gave me a hug.

We're not dumb though, as we realize any minute he'll walk out of his room with a giant booger on his hand and ask us to wipe it off.

To think though, 6 weeks to the new baby when the real Kadin revolution begins.

Kadin has this thing where he runs "crying" to me after his bath. "I want mommeeeeeee..." It doesn't mean anything cause he is usually laughing at the same time. Its just a bad habit he has. This is one of those times. Do I look tired? That's because I am. Do I look uncomfortable? That's because I am.

Auntie Trina and Auntie Leila gave Kadin drums for Christmas. I didnt want him to have them yet cause he was only 2 and I didnt want him to break them. In the gettting ready of the baby's room he found them. How could I say no? :) He loves them. Reminds me of Animal from the Muppets.

We bought this pool for Kadin months ago but this was the first time we used it. Hasan takes him to the pool all the time so it was never necessary and with the heat wave it was too hot to even have him in it outside. Now pool time has not been so often so he loves this thing.
