Hasan asked me today when I wanted to stop using pull ups on Kadin at bedtime....Im not ready.
I figure one pee on the mattress and thats it...its gone. We had no luck finding a mattress "protector" and so we keep the pull ups.
Thing is Kadin being as extraordinary as he is...well he will still go to the toilet even when he has them on.
Just last week I had a hard time sleeping and around 12:15 am I heard him outside our room rustling about. When I got up to check on him he was sitting and peeing. I mean he gets up to pee all the time but now he was just doing it on his own. When I asked if he was Ok he simply said "Yes mommy...Im peeing."
I mean this kid even asks to pee when we are out and about and he uses the urnals! Just this weekend I caught him stnading over his potty to pee...thank god he has good aim! :)
He never wets himself or poo's his pants so Im pretty sure its safe but who wants to take that chance. (not only am I knocking on wood...I am using my head to do so! hehe)
Hasan took Kadin swimming on Saturday as he does most weekends and he was very proud to call me after the fact to share two milestones with me. Kadin had learned two new things.
One was how to twist a tissue into a pencil like shape to retrieve boogers...wow *ahem*...and the other took my beathe away.
Hasan had taught Kadin to hold his breathe and go under water. I didnt speak for a moment after Hasan told me. I mean it was a scary thought. Kadin actually starts swimming lessons in a week so this leap was a good one...scratch that...an amazing one!!!
Kadin never stops blowing our minds really. From his forcefulness when he wants to do something for himself, to his silly sense of humor (after which making a joke he will say "I a siwee boy mommy?"), to his ability to sit for an hour and quietly read and always to show love with sweet words like "I like you mommy" or "Let's cuddle babu".
Kadin is a virgo and even at this young age he really does want perfection in the things he does. He can become easily frustrated but also has a great skill in understanding things at a logical level.
We give Kadin time outs in his room when he is throwing a tantrum. We wait until he is calm and then go in and speak to him. We tell him what he was doing wrong and make sure he gets it. We then ask for him to say he is sorry to us and he comes out. Just today we went through this twice with him. When he stopped crying in his room he opened the door himself and said "Ok babu I say I sorry now." Smart ass! hehe
As for our new little one..he or she will also be a virgo. Should be interesting. We will find out the gender at the end of June. We have a girl's name already but are still working on the boy's name. Not that we are sharing. :)
And now for pics...
I turned 30 at the beginning of this month. Here is a pic celebrating that joyous occasion...BLAH!

I can't tell if Kadin looks more like a stoner or a hick! The second one makes him look like he has bad teeth.

And now the shoe fashion show. Kadin started this all his own one night while watching Hasan and I clean our room. The typical black pump was his first choice.....

Those were immediately tossed aside once he discovered the strappy, saucy heel...

He liked these oriental slipper style ones so much he had to get a standing look.

I was a little scared when he pulled out the expensive wedding shoe.

But by far the white bridesmaid clog heel with lilly design were the favorite. Those too deserved a good standing look!

And here is the shoe connoisseur, tired but glad that he took a chance on a shoe no one else has since 1999! He is just so handsome!!

...our second little pewfie. We could not determine the gender of the baby but we will in the near future and at that time we will share. Enjoy!
Everything looks great so far!!
The first two are profile shots. I think the image is pretty good. You can see the head and face pretty clearly.

This third shot if a frontal face pic. I have labelled them A, B and C. A is the face, B are the arms and C is the little pop belly. :)

As for Kadin he is doing great. The last few weeks have really been all about him being two. He has an extremely strong independent streak in him. We fostered that so we can't fault him for it. But it can be very frustrating.
He insists in doing absolutely everything for himself. This includes getting dressed, going potty, getting his food, brushing his teeth and things as simple as being the one to close the fridge door. If it so happens that either Hasan or I close the door when Kadin wanted to do it, he will reopen it and close it again.
This extreme behaviour has led to some serious meltdowns on his part. Over the top screaming and crying accompanied with telling us "I WILL DO IT!!!" A statement he will repeat over and over....and over again until he becomes too exhausted to go on with the tirade.
It has been difficult but we are doing our best to find ways to work with him but not give in; as well as ignoring the psychotic breakdowns!
I have no pictures of the little man this time around....well maybe just one older pic.
These are some of the craziest pics I have ever taken. I dont know why they all came out looking so crazy but oh well. Worth the sharing nonetheless.
Does it look like Kadin needs a haircut? WELL I DONT CARE!!! Hhehehe I just think he looks better with the long hair.
With short hair he looks like a girl...with short hair. :)
The basket pic was totally his idea...I swear. I had to take like 20 of them while he directed me to keep taking his picture. He would position himself, ask for the pic to be taken and then scramble out of the basket to see the pic. We started and finished this process about 82 times.
There are also a few of Kadin cooking a glorious meal of stale nacho chips, milk and gold fish. Mmmm my stomach is growling even now...

Yeah so toilet training...it has gone unbelievably well. I make it sound like its over but of course that is not the case. However Kadin is a trooper as always and has done way better then I ever would have thought. He never misses a pee now and even goes to the toilet himself and takes care of his business.
Last week Hasan managed to get him on the big toilet and he has even taken to that quite well. I also managed to get him to do a poo on there and since, he continues to do his poo there...well for the most part.
The other morning I had to endure a phone call from student loan's and I took the call in the room (door open) while Kadin watched Sesame Street. I was gone 10 minutes at most and upon my return I found Kadin in his usual pooping spot behind the patio door curtain. There was poo all over his legs and underwear and all over the floor. I immediately rushed him to the bathroom without much fuss. Didnt want him to freak out. I put him on the toilet and returned to clean the mess.
Strangest thing...half the poo was missing. Yes Daisy or beloved dog had "taken care of" some of the poo. I havent looked at her the same since.
Kadin wakes every morning with a clean diaper and even gets up at night to take care of his business. We have transitioned him to real underwear during the day and soon it will only be pull ups at night. We are all very excited to be free of diapers...well at least for the next 4 months! haha
Kadin is quite the talker now as well. He always has been, but now it goes on for about 20 hours a day. Not that I mind being asked the same question 18 times or not that I mind being told 32 times that Daisy is sleeping....its all good. Good that he has such a good range of vocabulary.
Cute phrases he has though deserve mention for example "I come too?" if anything dealing with anything is occuring Kadin needs to know immediately if he can be involved someway too. Or if he and his abu are doing something he will ask me 46 times "You come too?" Hasan and I are bombarded with "You shower too?" "You pee too?" "You poop too?" "You sleep too?" "Daisy hurtin too?" and on and on it goes. :)
Kadin has also turned around a game of choice I pay with him. I would ask him daily if he wanted a brother or sister and I would ask him to pick. He now does that with us. "Ok mommy pick one brudder or sister?" And then after I answer "Ok mommy pick one boy or girl?" Its tres cute.
He has also begun shushing us....quite regularly. When he is having an intense conversation on his plastic cell phone we often get the silent shush. He looks at us wide eyed and places his finger to his lips without making a sound. Or once and awhile he will shush me if I try top talk to Hasan when he is or vice versa "Shh mommy Im talking to babu.." I know its kinda rude but again tres tres cute.
And finally his latest phrase. When Kadin is given an instruction he doesnt like or is being told not to do something (and he saves this one for Hasan mostly) he will shout at his abu "You're killing me" What? Where the hell did that come from? Again it doesnt matter its too cute to make him stop.
And cooking. I have always said I would teach Kadin to cook....as long as he was interested. And boy is he. He grabs his stool the second he sees me cooking and is totally involved and curious about everything. He also likes to mix his own concoctions with his left over meals....and many attempts are made to have me test them or eat them. I comply while using every once of pretend I can!
The other day Kadin broke my heart a little when he gave me a glimsp of the future. After placing him on the toilet he looked and me and said "Mommy go." I did as he asked but thought sadly about how often I will hear that from him in my lifetime.
As expected Kadin has also taken on a deep obsession with his abu. When Hasan is at home it is only Hasan that Kadin wants to do anything for him. Everything must be handled by him and I must have no involvment. It has even gone as far as when we go to the store and I have to take Kadin's hand for any reason, he will spend the entire time pulling and yelling "No babu...I want babu" It hurts but when having a boy I knew it would come to this...who knew so soon though.
Anyways here are some pics of the little shit. :)
Here are a few of a visit we made to the river a weekend or so ago. One of me forcing affection on my son as well as one of Kadin "vogue'in"
it for the camera. Daisy enjoyed the water so much so that she couldnt walk for two days. She is 9 now afterall.

See....he loves me dearly!

Vogue moment...

Ahh yes playtime between father and son.....could they look any sillier? heh

Goofy pewfie...

Kadin loves soup and asks for it for lunch all the time. He discovered this new trick recently and I had to capture it. See how he is looking at me? :)
