More sharing goodness

Another few weeks have slipped by, so here's what's going on in our world.

DAISY GET'S HIT BY A CAR (but she's doing fine now...!)

KADIN BECOMES SATAN AFTER 1 AM

I'm sure there is more, but I'll bet everyone is at least slightly curious about the two headlines there. So, let me elaborate.

This past Tuesday I was taking Daisy out before I left for work. She was off-leash as she usually is, since she just does her business on our front lawn and goes back inside.

What happened though was that another dog (off leash as well) was walking with his owner towards us. Once they got within about 10 feet, Daisy got playful and darted towards him...and right in front of a car that was driving by.

It was a horrible sight to see and hear her in such pain. I picked her up and rushed her inside, and after waking up Tonia to let her know what happened, I called the vet and rushed her there.

Through some sort of miracle, she actually didn't have any serious injuries. Basically just a few cuts on her front legs that required stitches.

She was in obvious pain the first day after the stitches, but since then has been pretty much back to her normal self.

Now, let's talk about how my son is the devil himself.

Kadin generally is asleep by 8:30 or so. He'll sleep soundly until about 1 AM, at which point he'll start to try and get in bed with us.

This past Saturday, Kadin made eight attempts to get in bed with us, in a 1.5 hour span of time! It was a nightmare from 2 to 3:30 AM. Every time we'd start to doze off, he would start sneaking into our room again.

Eventually being persistent won out....though somehow he ended up in our bed at around 6 AM. Tonia claims I woke up and got him when he was crying, but I think she's just in league with the Devil (that is to say, our son).

Now, don't get me wrong. I LOVE cuddling with Kadin when he's in our bed. What isn't so fun is waking up at 5 AM and realizing that I have exactly 0.0002323 milimetres of room between me and the edge of the bed because Kadin is essentially sleeping on top of my face. Attempts to move him result in a few things; failure because he's so damn heavy, failure because he starts sobbing and screaming, or failure because Tonia smothers me with a pillow for snoring.

Ok, so me snoring isn't really Kadin's fault, but if I'm calling my son the devil already, it's not like accusing him of other things makes me any worse of a person.

Now, some more pictures from California!!

Long time, no sharing

So we have been away and got back last week. I have been slightly under the weather since and so its been a struggle to get all the pics done and put up a post. But today I try and I will write as much as I can.

The visit to LA was amazing. The family I met were wonderful and soooo hospitable. We were treated like royalty and we are extremely grateful for everyone's generosity and kindness.

Kadin had a ball playing with his second cousin Anieka and also meeting more of his abu's family. To be exact we met Hasan's aunt, his uncle, his cousin, her husband and three of their kids. I am excluding names just for privavcy sake. I don't know if they would mind so I would rather be cautious.

We did the whole downtown LA thing on Rodeo Drive and Hollywood Blvd. We saw the Hollywood sign but didnt get close enough for a pic.

Rodeo Drive was just as you see it on TV. Rich, crowded and well to do. No celebrity sightings though. :(

We also went to the LaBrea Park tar pits. Ever see Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche? Well they are in that movie. That was really cool although somewhat sad seeing the stone elephants crying for each other.

Next was Hollywood Blvd. Ya know where the Walk of Fame is, the Kodak Theatre and Chinese Groman Theatre. It was unreal. The characters we saw were amusing and scary at the same time. They were actually setting up for the Oscars while we were there and so we got some pics of that. Again no celebrity sightings. Well thats not completely true.

When we went to retrieve our car from the Roosevelt Hotel there was Mr. Ben Mulroney nice as you like standing outside the hotel. Hasan's mom spoke to him a little but he seemed very stand offish. Not what we would want from the only celebrity we see...especially one who is Canadian. Way to go Ben.

So back to more familia stuff. Opps....sorry details limited. :)

We had a blast shopping and going about. I of course was sick some days but it wasnt too too bad.

Oh wait did I not mention WE WENT TO DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!!!!

It was more then I ever could have imagined. Ami and Abu deserve a million thank you's for this experience.

Kadin was thrilled and watching him enjoy himself was more then I could have hoped for.

There was a parade shortly after we got there and the emotions ran high. Anieka and Kadin were squealing with delight and I even found myself getting emotional when I saw the Little Mermaid float. I mean maybe it was watching Kadin or maybe there was some small child left in me that couldnt believe that I too was seeing these characters I had grown up with. It was spectacular.

Kadin was enthralled with Alice in Wonderland and she with him as well. When she came off her float she came up to Kadin and said Hi and stuff but when she came back to get on the float she grabbed Kadin by the face and gave him a kiss and everything. It was the sweetest dang thing. Kadin was in love. hahaha

At one point he could see the Lion King float around the corner and it was then he became transfixed. Waiting quietly for it to come closer. Pointing to it occasionally saying "Lion King". He stopped watching what was in front of him and waited for his hero to come around.

It was emotional. Even writing it now I am so shocked by the effect. I get it now. I get that every parent if possible should take their kid to Disney. It was heartwarming, touching and one of the most memorable momets we have shared with our son.

They is so much more to write but being in my state doesnt allow me to sit here too long and I still have to put some pics up.

Oh Baby Pewfie update: We had an ultrasound and appt since getting back. I am almost 12 weeks and we are due at the end of Sept. You know what that means...another torturous summer pregnancy. I got to see the little swimmer this past week. Quite active for someone who is 4.1 cm's long! Ok so thats about it for now. Enjoy the pics.

Ok this wasnt easy but I narrowed down this group of pics. I have many more but those will have to wait for another day.

Some Disney Pics. Kadin checking out the insides of Pluto's ear, Kadin crushing his aba-jan's head, Alice grabbing and kissing Kadin's face. The rest are fairly self explanatory!!

Now to HOLLYWOOD!

Here we saw the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Walk of Fame, the setup for the Oscar's at the Kodak Theatre, and some noteable characters...

I (Hasan) actually managed to ask for directions to this place while standing about 20 feet away from it. Heh..
