Way too long

I know it has been too long since the last post but I blame Hasan. You see he had these two great stories about Kadin to tell and for weeks I have been trying to get him to tell the stories.....alas here I am doing it for him. The post will be short though because I have many pics to put up and I know people rather that anyways. :))

So about 2 weeks ago Hasan, Kadin and I were shopping down in Vancouver. Kadin was not in a cart but instead walking about. Once at the counter Hasan had to take Kadin in his arms to avoid theft, vandalism and other such activities a 20 month old needs to participate in. Well as you can imagine Kadin wasn't interested in avoiding a life of crime. He screamed and tantrumed his way out of the store and at one point was SO angry with Hasan (and this is the part where the story gets good...and well scary) he placed one of his hands behind Hasan's head at the base of his neck....picture it....and his other hand at the front of Hasan's neck...picture it.

Kadin then proceeded to "fake" squeeze his abu's neck while shaking, holding his breathe and turning red....PICTURE IT!!!!

To this day we are still trying to figure out where he picked up and thank god he has not done it since.

On to the second story. Yeah short post my ass. hehe

Soon after the choking incident of '05 Hasan took Kadin swimming at the local pool. While spending time in the hot tub after their long swim they were approached by a young boy of maybe 10 or 11. The conversation went as follows:

Young Boy: Why do you have him? (speaking of Kadin of course)
Hasan: Cause he is my son.
Young Boy: Yeah but he's white.
Hasan: Yeah his mom is white.
Young Boy: But your brown.
Hasan: Well his mom is white so he looks like his mom.

The young boy then slowly walked away, never taking his eyes off the strange combination of white and brown. His curiosity was permitted and funny because he was so young but it makes Hasan and I wonder will people always wonder that same thing?

Now for pictures.

Here is Kadin enjoying some spaghetti. Every kid has these pics at home.

Confusion has set in a bit for Kadin. I am the guilty party. I continue to take Kadin into our bed during the day for his naps. Now at night it isnt going as smoothly as it did. When we take him to his room now he cries to go into ours. I know I have to stop but I like having that time with him. Here we are trying to nap. hehehe

Someone really needed a diaper change. :) And as a side note...who does Kadin remind you of in these pics with his gut all hanging out and what not?? Come on WHO!??

May Day

I think the worst part of these posts for me is coming up with the title. Forgive my lack of creativity. :)

As I sit here Kadin is watching Sesame Street and singing along with the opening to the Elmo segment. Can you believe that? Not the words or anything, just long drawn out notes...still amazing.

Kadin has become something of a neighbourhood phenom. Our patio door is almost always open and watch out if Kadin hears someone outside...which we do constantly really. He runs over shouting "HI's" and waving and calling everyone he sees BABU. We even had a lady last week repeating back to him as she walked down the road. I find sometimes that I have given Kadin traits that I also passed on to my dog as I was raising her.

Daisy will never miss the chance to run to a door or window if prompted with "Where's the puppies?". Well now Kadin does the same for "See the baby?" Our neighbours downstairs have a retriever/chow mix named Jake and Kadin has become accustomed to seeing Jake in the back of their truck parked in the driveway. Once...JUST ONCE....the other day when out for our walk, I said to Kadin "Say HI to Jake" and he repeated after me. Now without Jake even being there, Kadin will look at the truck and say "Hi Jake".

Our walks are our special explore time and I point out birds and trees to Kadin and I guess at some point I elevated my voice to show him some pretty flowers. Now whenever he sees flowers on our walks he goes into a soprano type whisper "Wha dat? What da? WOW!" Very cute.

Along with animal sounds and names and whatnots Kadin is also learning to parts of the body. He knows feet, nose, eyes, hands etc....but his favorite way to practice these things is to sit and actually point the parts out on your face, touching the nose and saying "NOO". Touching the eyes and saying "EYEEE". Sometimes it can be a little dangerous and he gets too excited...literally someone can lose an eye. And this my friends he can do for long....looong periods of time.

And just this week or maybe it was a few weeks ago he started using please in the right context. It sounds like "PEEZE" but thats perfectly OK by us as long as he is using it the right way.

Just the other day we were out for our walk and Kadin was taking his DEAD time. Picking up every rock, examing it and throwing it. I thought we would never get to the river (our intended destination about 2 minutes away from our place). However I was lucky enough to be passed by three lady joggers and guess what Kadin did? Ran the whole way to the river! HAHA He was chasing the ladies and making our walk a speed walk instead.

He does chase me and vise versa when we go for walks. Running behind me yelling"Chase you, Chase you". Also very cute.

Kadin has become something of an independent lately. He always did have that side to him but now I can find him in his room playing alone or reading a book or emptying his dresser drawers and he is happy, happy doing it. I will sometimes be met with the "AHHHHHH" scream if I even try to get in his room. Interesting that he has this quality at 20 MONTHS!!!! Yesterday he spent about 1.5 hours going in and out of his room. Coming to me on the sofa for a hug, a kiss and then a big ole story about something interesting I am sure. If only I or even himself knew anything he was saying. :)

And that brings me to the next trait of Kadin's we have noticed. He has become very soft hearted recently. He is a very cuddly child and loves to hug and kiss and maybe its that that has become this. If I or his abu get angry at him or tell him he can't do something or can't have something...but ya know we are using our "we are REALLY serious" tone Kadin's bottom lip with curl around the top one, HUGE tears well up in his eyes, he starts trying to stop crying (I have no idea why) and when he realizes he just can't, he will go and hide somewhere so we can't see him. Its heartbreaking and well sometimes really funny. I know that sounds bad but maybe its displaced emotions...but I find myself laughing hysterically at this when its happening. I guess I shouldnt..I mean it has a good effect and he will often calm down when he sees I am trying not to laugh but its heartbreaking. I think I am going to look up something that will help us with this just so he doesn't become too too sensitive.

And just today Kadin said "Love you" back to his abu!!!! Nothing compares to that feeling....nothing.

And now for the pictures.

Ok maybe Im taking this bug thing too far..but look at this thing.

We have been curious for awhile now whether or not Kadin would have flat feet considering it runs in the Hai family. Well what do you think? Are those little Hasan feet?

Here is Kadin with his first watch compliments of Wendy's.

Sunday past Kadin decided my purse (which Hasan had placed and left on the floor) was an excellent place to explore, and so he did, finding an intense lip gloss to be an amazing find! And no, he wasn't happy about washing it off.

When Kadin was born his nanny and poppy gave Kadin a piggy bank for his loot and today I showed him how to put that loot in there.

And here he is congratulating himself on a job well done.

And finally today I would like to end this post with some great old family pics. Now I can see that Hasan does look exactly like his dad. They are sooo cute! These pictures are amazing. Please don't be mad! heheh

Today Kadin was playing with his Leap Frog and Hasan decided he should join in and be supportive and involved. He said to Kadin "What dog sound make?" WHAT????????? I'm still laughing about it.

Will this post never end?

Lastly on behalf of Kadin I want to thank Kadin's dadi and abu-jan for the amazing little gifts they sent today. The cutest bear and a really cool name engraving that we are gonna hang on his door. Thank you!
