Updates and Milestones

So Hasan wrote a great post but did forget about some stuff Kadin has been doing so I thought I would fill in the details.

The new phrase Kadin says constantly is Uh-Oh. If something falls, if he drops something, if someone on TV makes the same sort of mistake etc...you can hear Kadin from any room in the house saying "Uh-Oh" and its very clear. He seems to be in a phase right now where he is repeating everything.

We are always trying to get him to say new words and he always just sorta laughed at us and ran away. However just the pther day he was speaking to his poppy on the phone and I said "Say Poppy." And as clear as he had been saying it for years he said "Pop"!!! It was awesome.

Kadin also has these letter magnets on the fridge and if I say the letter clearly he will repeat it immediately after. Its like he is on a learing curve right now and is willing to absorb whatever we want to tell him. Hasan and I know we have to take advantage before he gets to the stage where he giggles and runs away again! :)

In 5 days our little tike will be 18 months old and it marks a time I have been anxiously waiting for - no more bottle. Honestly the only reason he gets that bedtime bottle is to ensure he is getting the right amount of milk but thats not necessary anymore as he drinks plenty of milk throughout the day.

We are pretty confident about taking away this last bottle considering Kadin was just about the easiest baby to wean off the bottle in the first place. The key for us was not teaching him the word for bottle and so he had no way of asking for it. I am sure come the 8th that he won't even miss it and his sippy cup at bedtime will be just fine.

As well, considering he has almost a full mouth of teeth now it is time to get that nipple out of his mouth.

Since moving into this new apartment Kadin has also taken a liking to the stairs. He sorta lets (or tries to until we get to him) himself fall down the stairs but has become an expert at climbing the stairs. We simply stay close behind to avoid any mishaps. But this climbing has taken on a whole new level as just 2 days ago Kadin climbed up onto the kichen chair. He repeated the process a number of times and clapped for himself each time. We were weary but I think we feel that way about every little "danger" step he takes.

Kadin is also finding a way to call out to Hasan. I mean over time he has used many phrases to get Hasan's attention. For example "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" or "WAAAAAAAAAAAA" or "SHREEEEEEEEEEEK". But now as I said he likes to repeat so I have been breaking Abu up for him and saying it like "AAAAAA" "BUUUU" and he repeats. He has now taken it to a new level where he will say the whole thing together but for him it comes out as "Babu." And we are very happy with it. I mean "Babu" is very cute and Hasan loves it. And you should hear him say mommy...well....OK I had to put that in there so I didnt feel left out. hehe

As well a side note to all of Kadin's successes we have finally set down some serious wedding plans. We know exactly what we want now, and where. It will be something small with mostly immediate family and we will actually be getting married here in Vancouver, probably Whistler. We have decided on a tentative date as well but we are keeping it hush hush so as not to excite anyone too too much. But I assure you, everyone who hasn't heard these details will know everything really soon. And I want to thank everyone for their patience and thank others for their understanding and support. Thank you thank you.

And now to end this post with pics of our beautiful son. Oh wait did we mention we tried taking him in for a haircut and he was terrified and sobbed. Seems its gonna be the mommy cut again.

I just love this shirt! Thanks mom and dad!

Hasan says Kadin looks like that old southern guy from The Apprentice - Bren I think. Lets just say Kadin insists on putting any sticky food he eats into his hair and Hasan thought this was a better look then a head of hair filled with raspberry jam.

Kadin also likes to feed Daisy...especially with the spatula from the BBQ! Here he applauds his success.
