Updates and Pictures

Its been too long since an update so here is a short one along with some new great pics!

Kadin and I have decided that we are no longer interested in using the stroller for our walks and this way the walks are way more fun. For the last two days I simply take him by the hand and we walk together around the whole block. He is so good and loves every minute of it.

He clearly says and looks for Abu now. Yesterday as we took our walk Kadin could hear the carpenters behind us. He would stop every few feet, look back, go off in some foreign language and then finish it with "Abu".

We were thinking last night that even with this recent hair cut we may have to consider going to the salon for a real one. Hasan seems to think that everyone mistakens Kadin for a girl and its time for a hair cut. Im slowly caving. Until then here are some beautiful pics of our little BOY!

So we had a crazy Thursday night last week. For some reason someone gave Kadin chocolate. Someone thought it would be nice cause it was Easter and all. Someone didnt know this would happen. Here is that someone holding Kadin down in order to get a picture.....Crazy Thursday1.jpg

....and not being successful at it!!!!!!

Here I am being reduced to using tickle control!

And now Hasan trying to control both animals for picture taking.

And now we cheer because we have decided to release the beast and capture pictures when possible!

After crazy Thursday Hasan tried to get Kadin to calm down. It was a bit of a process but eventually he gave in.

And let's not forget the new trick Hasan taught Kadin. Isn't that nice!?

My friend Meghan came by Friday night and although these pictures may not be for everyone let me assure you everything isnt what it appears to be! hehe And of course Kadin became immediately enthralled by her and never left her side all night

The Many Faces of Kadin Ali Hai

I don't have a lot to say today but I got sick of looking at the St. Patty's Day stuff so I thought I would find something.

Kadin had his 18 month appointment with his new doctor the other day. It included one shot which he got through like a hero but the stethoscope was another story as Kadin sobbed like it was nobody's business. He was really afraid for some reason. The doctor was really good about it though and commented on how big Kadin is. To be exact Kadin is now 33" tall and weighs in at 30.5 lbs!

Now lets see what else do I have?....I found some great pics of Kadin and thought I would introduce you to his many faces.

Here is the "Quiet Reading Kadin" who enjoys sitting by himself and reading aloud books of his choice. Some of his favorites include Peppy the Puppy, JoJo's Circus and The Lion King. Kadin's reading ability sounds a little something like this "Na Na Na bah bah maaaa noooo Daisy babee babee two two Arhhhh Arhhhhhh."
Reading Kadin1.jpg
Reading Kadin.jpg

Here we have the "Discovery Kadin". He likes to remove everything from our cupboards and discover what they can do and how loud they are when banging together. Kadin also enjoys lifting the lids off of pots and pans with his teeth. Please people a round of applause for the boy!!
New talent.jpg

Next we have the "Obsessed with camera, refuses to take pictures Kadin". Since getting the digital camera Kadin is fully aware that there is a display screen and instead of posing for pictures he screams to look into this screen 95% of the time. Most amusing thing about this? Kadin has learned that we generally laugh when we look at this screen so regardless of what HE sees when we show him the screen, he will laugh hysterically as if there is nothing funnier.

Without saying too much (because I apparently offend people easily hehe) let's call this the "Purging Kadin". Lately he has this thing where he sticks his fingers down his throat for no apparent reason. Even when he is eating he takes the food and shoves it to the back of his throat. Interesting...no?

Another fine picture. This one I am calling "Pays too Much Attention Kadin." Come on kid!!! Your 18 months old for god's sake, let mommy turn the TV on FOR you! Silly boy! ;)
Remote.jpg

The next two I like to call "Kadin - Canada's Next Top Model". You can just hear him saying "Oh...your not taking that picture of me are you?" as he poses showing us his best side. Wouldn't you agree?

And last but certainly least (yes I meant to write it that way...these pictures are last because they are least important then Kadin...come on people!?) I just wanted to include some pictures of a foggy morning here in Squamish.foggy day1.jpg

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!!!!

For Kadin roots we want to wish everyone we know a very Happy St. Patrick's Day.
ManHappy.gif

It is a time to celebrate the liberation of Irishmen everywhere from the dreaded snake...well sort of.
And well I have to be honest I know a lot of irish decendents who will maybe have a drink or two today.
GreenBeer.gifGreenBeer.gifGreenBeer.gifGreenBeer.gifGreenBeer.gif

Its also a fun time for kids. Parades and festivals are taking place everywhere. And I certainly plan on at least dressing Kadin in green today!

So anyways I know little about the origin of the holiday but I do know how we celebrate it! Have an awesome time everyone!!!!!

Dat's some by' ya got der!!

Last week Kadin went swimming again and loved it. This time mommy stayed back but Hasan said he was so brave and walked down the ramp into the deeper part of the pool by himself and only stopped when the water got to his neck almost!!? I couldn't believe it when he told me. Kadin is so brave. I mean Hasan was obviously sitting right in front of him as he walked, just to ease the minds of worried grandparents everywhere!

It amazes us everyday how smart this kid is. He is at a stage where he literally will repeat just about anything you ask him to...and somethings you don't. Now please keep in mind that he will only say these things once, and if you ask him a second time or later in the day he looks at you like you're from Mars.

Kadin has been doing this unbelievable thing.....well I would say for me. I noticed it recently.....when I cook and I have to open the oven or go stir something, he follows me to the stove and stands there saying over and over and over "MMMMMMMMMMM. Hot. MMMMMMMMMMMmm. Hot. MMMMMMMMMMM. Hot." Can a boy do anything nicer for his mom? I don't think so. :)

Kadin has also taken up the guitar. Its a plastic one we gave him when he was very young and although he played with it (hitting stuff and throwing it) he is now actually attempting playing with it properly and what else you might ask? Well... he sings along to his own guitar playing!! Watch out Eric Clapton! Although, without any disrespect, I do not think Kadin will have to compete with Eric when he becomes a huge rock star! Because Eric is old....now....and will probably be dead by then. Sorry Eric.

Kadin's singing consists of "Yaaaaa...yaaaaaa...mmmaaaaaa....dooooo....yaaaaaa..." But he really holds the notes and strums away at the guitar! LOVE IT!

He is also loving helping us with anything he can. Kadin likes to help load and unload the dishwasher. Handing me the dishes (incl. the cutlery) one piece at a time but I love it. He never runs away with the remote now. Always hands it over when he picks it up. And last night...Kadin helped us put the groceries away. He lugged the bags from the top of the stairs to the kitchen (3-4 feet...don't worry) - at least what he could lift - and then proceeded to unpack everything one by one and hand it to Hasan or I. As the bags became empty he put them in the drawer where they belong! I'm not kidding!!

We think its important that Kadin participate in these things and not just be told to get out of the way. It makes for much much nicer experiences and less screaming!

Oh gosh did I mention there is no bottle anymore? We just stopped giving it....no fuss no muss. Kadin never knew the difference.

This post turned out a lot longer then I thought but I have to get everything in there for everyone who reads. I never thought being a parent could be like this. This child has changed me in so many ways and all for the better. It has been the most fulfilling and outstanding experience of my life...and its only getting better and even more exciting!

Ok picture time!!

Kadin spends most of his days like this. Surrounded by toys but only reading books.
Book Time.jpg

Kadin has crazy time with Hasan and then cuddle time with me. Uhhh how sweet!

Everyday we find Kadin trying to do things as we do. Latest? Loves hamburgers!!

I had to put this up....he is just so handsome in this pic! :)

It was Hasan's idea!

And finally..these. My god how sweet is this child?! Oh and I really did give him a haircut!

First Time Swimming

So please enjoy these pics of Kadin's first time in a pool. He has been in water before but this was a new experience. He loved it! He smiled the whole time and giggled and waved at me...and was having a ball! Even the lifeguard remarked about how much he was smiling. This will be a new Saturday event.

Hasan and I went but only Hasan got in the water. He is the swimmer in the family. Kadin is so cute!!!

Updates and Milestones

So Hasan wrote a great post but did forget about some stuff Kadin has been doing so I thought I would fill in the details.

The new phrase Kadin says constantly is Uh-Oh. If something falls, if he drops something, if someone on TV makes the same sort of mistake etc...you can hear Kadin from any room in the house saying "Uh-Oh" and its very clear. He seems to be in a phase right now where he is repeating everything.

We are always trying to get him to say new words and he always just sorta laughed at us and ran away. However just the pther day he was speaking to his poppy on the phone and I said "Say Poppy." And as clear as he had been saying it for years he said "Pop"!!! It was awesome.

Kadin also has these letter magnets on the fridge and if I say the letter clearly he will repeat it immediately after. Its like he is on a learing curve right now and is willing to absorb whatever we want to tell him. Hasan and I know we have to take advantage before he gets to the stage where he giggles and runs away again! :)

In 5 days our little tike will be 18 months old and it marks a time I have been anxiously waiting for - no more bottle. Honestly the only reason he gets that bedtime bottle is to ensure he is getting the right amount of milk but thats not necessary anymore as he drinks plenty of milk throughout the day.

We are pretty confident about taking away this last bottle considering Kadin was just about the easiest baby to wean off the bottle in the first place. The key for us was not teaching him the word for bottle and so he had no way of asking for it. I am sure come the 8th that he won't even miss it and his sippy cup at bedtime will be just fine.

As well, considering he has almost a full mouth of teeth now it is time to get that nipple out of his mouth.

Since moving into this new apartment Kadin has also taken a liking to the stairs. He sorta lets (or tries to until we get to him) himself fall down the stairs but has become an expert at climbing the stairs. We simply stay close behind to avoid any mishaps. But this climbing has taken on a whole new level as just 2 days ago Kadin climbed up onto the kichen chair. He repeated the process a number of times and clapped for himself each time. We were weary but I think we feel that way about every little "danger" step he takes.

Kadin is also finding a way to call out to Hasan. I mean over time he has used many phrases to get Hasan's attention. For example "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" or "WAAAAAAAAAAAA" or "SHREEEEEEEEEEEK". But now as I said he likes to repeat so I have been breaking Abu up for him and saying it like "AAAAAA" "BUUUU" and he repeats. He has now taken it to a new level where he will say the whole thing together but for him it comes out as "Babu." And we are very happy with it. I mean "Babu" is very cute and Hasan loves it. And you should hear him say mommy...well....OK I had to put that in there so I didnt feel left out. hehe

As well a side note to all of Kadin's successes we have finally set down some serious wedding plans. We know exactly what we want now, and where. It will be something small with mostly immediate family and we will actually be getting married here in Vancouver, probably Whistler. We have decided on a tentative date as well but we are keeping it hush hush so as not to excite anyone too too much. But I assure you, everyone who hasn't heard these details will know everything really soon. And I want to thank everyone for their patience and thank others for their understanding and support. Thank you thank you.

And now to end this post with pics of our beautiful son. Oh wait did we mention we tried taking him in for a haircut and he was terrified and sobbed. Seems its gonna be the mommy cut again.

I just love this shirt! Thanks mom and dad!

Hasan says Kadin looks like that old southern guy from The Apprentice - Bren I think. Lets just say Kadin insists on putting any sticky food he eats into his hair and Hasan thought this was a better look then a head of hair filled with raspberry jam.

Bad Hair.jpg

Kadin also likes to feed Daisy...especially with the spatula from the BBQ! Here he applauds his success.
