Christmas

Well Kadin was really lucky this Christmas. He received awesome gifts from his family.

Hasan and I got him a swing, a play piano, a crib activity centre and lots of cloths.

From Nanny and Poppy Kadin got a floor toy which later turns into a small barn for him to play with. They also gave him a sleeper, a Santa plate and a special Christmas hat and bib.

From other people Kadin received a Xmas ornament, actually 3, a musical snail, rattles, Kooshie Dog which is hysterical, a counter, some socks, a book for us to write all about him and a stackable tower toy.

For his 1st Christmas he made away like a bandit and if he could he would thank you all.

It has been the best Christmas I have ever experienced and I cannot wait for Kadin to be old enough next year to do the opening himself.

Video and pics to follow folks.

Crazy

So we all know about proud first time grandmothers. Especially those who thought that maybe they would never be a grandmother. Those who love and adore children everywhere. Such is the plight of my mother.

I have never in my life seen a grandmother who is as proud of their grandchild as my mom. Its a great thing. :)

However sometimes proud dips into the realm of crazy.

I sent my family in Newfoundland their Sears pictures of Kadin. My parents received a wallet, a 5x7, a 8x10 and a 10x13.

My mom, Kadin's crazy nanny, framed the 10x13 and took it to work with her. She also took it with her to do her banking.

I picture her walking through the old mall in Marystown with this huge framed picture stopping all who pass...."Have you seen my grandchild? He was born with that hair ya know!!"

Its all good though. There is nothing better then the smile that comes on Kadin's face when his nanny speaks to him on the phone.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for......

It has been a while since I wrote here, eh? Well, time for some updates from my own unique perspective.

It really does make a huge difference that Kadin has started sleeping through the night on a consistent basis. Especially when it comes to the weekends and I "relieve" Tonia on Friday and Saturday nights.

Something about him sleeping 10 hours, waking up for a quick feed/diaper change, then going back to sleep for 3 hours makes Tonia want to stab me in the eyes. Heeh.

Also, as dumb as I am most of the time, I have picked up a few tricks from Tonia. Kadin (and I'm sure most babies) has this tendency to go from rather happy and content, to instantly screaming with tears running down his face. The more you try and console him, the harder he screams until it appears he is gasping for breath. How do you get past that? EXCELLENT QUESTION!

The trick is to scream louder than him. He instantly stops crying, and about 2 seconds later is grinning from ear to ear. Then he might throw up, and I quickly announce it's bed time and run into the bedroom before Tonia throws a bottle at my head.

But hey, at least he ended the night smiling!

Happy Ending

As we were leaving last night Kadin was a little unhappy about it. Then when we stopped at the 7/11 for Diet Coke he was even more unhappy. It got so bad that we had to pull over on the side of the road and I had to try and console him.

Kadin continued to cry like I have never heard him cry before.

Without putting him in his car seat (because I could not make him stop crying, and folks believe me when I say it was really bad) we drove home as quickly as we could.

On the way back Kadin became somewhat calm. I myself was not.

As I waited for Hasan after getting out of the car I paced the parking lot with Kadin. He let out a little burp.

My night was not meant to be.

As I stood in the bathroom later that night and took off my new outfit, took out my contacts and put my glasses back on and washed my face of make up, a lot of things ran through my mind. I found my disrobing very symbolic.

Now those who know me know I'm not a very deep person but they also know what kind of life I lived up until 15 months ago.

Having a baby changes everything. And I say without hesitation - for the better.

Oh and to top it all off it appears both our dogs have fleas and or ticks. Hasan is off to the vet this morning.

An Award to Hasan....

....for being an amazing father.

Last night as we shopped and snacked in the mall Kadin became hungry and Hasan immediately starting feeding him. When Kadin started drooling Hasan grabbed the nearest gravy soaked napkin he could find to wipe his mouth. Hmmm the face cloth was just as near by.

Today Hasan was feeding Kadin and Kadin was hitting the bottle away....Hasan said, and I quote, "You don't want this do you pup?"

That's our son Hasan...not our dog.

Who am I to talk? Today I found him face down in the rocking chair after I ran quickly to pee and brush my teeth. Kadin seemed ok as he looked up at me and smiled while sucking on the material of the chair. Well he wasn't exactly face down....

The Gap and Pj's

The two should not be mentioned in the same sentence. Sorry Nicol if you're reading this. Gap is great for the khaki's, the white worker shirts and pastel's but someone should show them how to make sleepers.

Hasan and I spent a mere 20 minutes tonite trying to put our precious son into one. *sigh* Painful. There is some wedge shaped piece of material which can't seem to find a home and when it does there is a large hole which exposes Kadin's diaper to the world. I mean it was a gift and the sleeper is freakin gorgeous and we are grateful to our friend Nicol but the sweat and tears may not have been worth it.

OHHH and today is Kadin's 3 month birthday. Cash is acceptable. hehe Kadin celebrated by not going to bed until 12:30 am last night and then getting up at 5:30 am. Hmmmmm I seem to remember typing Jinx somewhere below. :)

Oh and GAP please don't sue us.

Sleeping...not to jinx it but....

My son is my hero! hahah Kadin has been amazing all this week. After Sunday night and the restless sleeping he had, he has done wonderful ever since. Let me give you the low down.

Monday - 11 to 6:30
Tuesday - 11:30 to 7:20
Wednesday - 12 to 9:15
Thursday - 10:40 to 6
Friday - 10:30 to 7

Now considering this is a his first week in his new bedroom and given he has just turned 12 weeks I am amazed. Its like the instinct just kicked in for him to start sleeping through the night. I just hope Im not jinxing it! heh

Last night we put up the Christmas tree and if I do say so myself...its freakin gorgeous! We instantly took pics of Kadin in front of it. Just wait you will see.

A big shout out to Kadin's Nanny who is at his Great Aunt Wanda's today/night laying some floor tiles. Hello everyone....wait till you see my tree! HAHA

Oh and Payless has just about the cutest freakin baby shoes I have ever seen. And ones to fit my boy. AND at a bargain price of $9 and $10!! I will be back Payless....after Tuesday I WILL be back! MUHAhahahahaaaaa.......

*AHEM*

Well...

....first of all I'm not sure why Hasan used the term "we" here considering he went to bed at 10 and I was left to complete the "steps" all on my own. :)

My only fears were that Kadin's room would be too cold or the blankets would get up around his face. But all is well.

Kadin did however decide to get up as much last night as he did when he was weeks old. He went down at 11:20 after his last bottle. He then got up at 2:45 - I gave him a water/formula mix, mostly water - then he got up at 6 for what reason I have yet to determine at which point I took him to bed with me. This is when Hasan gets up for work. He then woke at 7 and at 8. *sigh*

So I'm not sure if it had anything to do with him being in his own room or it was just one of those nights.

We shall see.....
