Silly puppy

Today was a rather low key day, with me doing a bit of overtime at work, and Kadin doing some extra napping in the evening.

One shining moment was at about 12:30 this afternoon, when Tonia called me at work with an odd story to tell...

She had changed and washed Kadin, and had left the small water basin+wash cloth on the bed until he finished a bottle and fell asleep.

When he was well settled, she went back in the bedroom to find Grady asleep on the corner of the bed.

Afraid that he had knocked the basin over and spilled water all over our mattress, Tonia quickly shooed him off the bed and launched into an inspection of the mattress.

She noticed that the basin had not actually moved, but there was a wet spot all around it, and the wash cloth had miraculously found it's way half-way out of the basin, and was dripping onto the bed.

What happend you ask?

EXCELLENT question!

It seems that our beloved Grady, bless his heart, drank our son's bath water. Heh.

I've been on the computer far too long, and the young master needs his bottles washed. G'night!

Too many aunts, too little baby! (Conclusion)

Tonight was our last night to spend with Kadin's three Dadi's and my cousin Maleeha. Time was unfortunately limited as they were on a tight and quite hectic schedule, but we had a great time hanging out and snapping about an entire roll worth of film.

Oh, I also managed to polish off two slices of chocolate cheesecake and a plate of various cheeses. I do believe I'll be on the toilet for a week now, thank you very much.

Kadin was, as expected, the main event during our visit. This time though, he refrained from taking an enormous poo while in the hotel room. Not that anyone would have much minded even if he had.

That's all to report on the Kadin front tonight, good night!

Photo Update

New photo gallery added with some pictures from Oct 19 - 23. Also, we have decided to insert some select photo's of Kadin into various posts, at our discretion. We're still rather freakishly protective of him, however our parental show-off insticts have won out today. Rejoice, and take a moment to browse through previous posts to see a helpful photo to go with them.

Babies dig malls

Today we decided to throw caution to the wind and feed Kadin some McDonalds. Ok, maybe not.

Actually, we took him to Metrotown to shop for his first Halloween costume; A teeny, tiny bee suit! He's following a proud tradition of Halloween dressing up, started by yours truly. Look here.

We still have to determine what exactly we're doing on Halloween, other than (of course) showing off our wee little bumble-bee to the WORLD.

Too many aunts, too little baby!

Today Kadin met my cousin Maleeha and his Dadi's (Urdu word for grandmother, in this case used for great-aunt's) Popy, Chubbo & Roohi. It was an absolutely wonderful time! They just went nuts over him! Maleeha had her fair share of baby-madness as well, mind you.

Kadin made out with some excellent loot: Ceramic letters spelling his name, several great outfits (including a nice vest & his first tie!), an Ottawa Senators track suit (heh), a hand knitted blanket, a nicely framed picture of his Maham & Zahrah Phuppo (Urdu word for aunt) , and a generous contribution to his education fund.

Although Tonia & I spent a great afternoon just hanging out with them, it was clear Kadin was the star attraction. Hell, he even had his Dadi's fighting for the right to change his diaper!

The afternoon finished with Kadin taking a luxurious nap in a soft hotel bed. We'll be sure to be spending more time with his Maleeha Phuppo and assorted Dadi's before they leave on Monday.

Farmer ... Kadin?

So today we have Kadin dressed up like that guy from the Aerosmith "Crazy" video. You know, over-alls with no shirt on? Only, with a 6 week old baby the effect is decidedly different. Damn cute though.

He is getting extremely vocal now. Not just his crying or fake crying, but making a significant amount of coo-ing sounds. Even his poo grunts sound much more involved, like he's really trying to say something, ya know?

This is a very exciting week for all of us, since my cousin and three aunts are coming in to town to meet Kadin and Tonia for the first time (and they might say hi to me as well!).

Kadin's coming to the end of his short nap now, so I should take advantage of this free time to...oh I dunno, go to the bathroom?

Uncle Bradley comes to town

Since the biblical flooding seems to have leveled off, we went on a shopping trip to spend money on baby things.

Since the biblical flooding seems to have leveled off, we went on a shopping trip to spend money on baby things. We're moving out of the 24/7 sleepers dress mode, and into the human clothes realm. With that in mind, we picked out some nice outfits for him today.

Being a day shy of 6 weeks, Kadin has still managed to burn past most of his newborn outfits and is well into the 3-6 month range.

In the first of many daring acts, we co-ordinated a meeting with Brad (who flew in from Edmonton the day before). What made this meeting oh-so daring was the fact that Brad flubbed his way from downtown Vancouver to Coquitlam, only to find that we had gone out to a mall in Surrey.

Brad was able to follow my broken directions, and we were able to spend a few hours with him. Even snapped a few photo's proving that he is in fact capable of holding an infant!

Poop obsessed (cont)

Update: Not 30 minutes after the last post, Kadin had a healthy and wonderful(?) poop. Then he threw up all over himself. Then he smiled. Many a picture was taken.

Poop obsessed

Laugh if you will, but it's true. We heard all the jokes about how obsessive new parents are when it comes to their newborns movements, but we had no idea it would be like this.

Laugh if you will, but it's true. We heard all the jokes about how obsessive new parents are when it comes to their newborns movements, but we had no idea it would be like this.

Our first few encounters with Kadin's pediatrician and later the G.P., I found myself going on at length about the colour, consistency, amount, celebrity resemblences etc of his poop. All they actually wanted to know was if he had pooped in the last 24 hours, sans details.

Now I find myself calling home two or three times a day, asking "Did he poo yet?" or "He's really due for a poo now" or "Should we call someone if he doesn't poo in an hour?"

I think he knows this, and so purposely holds back his poops until we're about ready to freak out, then giggles and unleashes liquid hell.

We'll pay him back though. See, we took pictures of El Squirto in action. Muahahaha. I'm sure years from now, his girlfriend will love to see those.

It's a boy!

Well, I suppose I'm somewhat late in announcing that. But yes, our son Kadin Ali Hai was born at 10:25 AM on September 8, at St. Paul's hospital in Vancouver. Baby Kadin tipped the scales at 9 lbs 15 oz , woo!

This site is his, but Tonia and I will keep it in trust until he's old enough to work it himself. The name "pewfie" is derived from a mix of Pakistani (that's me!) and Newfie (that's her!).

Stay tuned for baby news, photos (we have billions), and *DUN DUN DUN* ...ok, I don't know what the third thing is. But stay tuned all the same!
