Kadin,
As I started writing this, it was exactly 11:59 PM on September 7, 2004. One
year ago today, it was Sunday night and your mommy and I had just finished
working on your room about half an hour ago, recorded a few minutes of your baby
video, and tried our best to get some sleep.
The next morning we went to the hospital, and at 10:25 AM the most wonderful and
amazing thing in the world happened: you were born.
I'll never forget standing beside your mommy and watching as Dr. Anderson held
you up and I saw you for the first time. Then you peed.
I look at you every single day with the same love and awe that I did that first
day. In fact, it seems to get stronger all the time. As I write this, there is a
warmth in my chest and stomach.
It is now 12:13 AM on Wednesday, September 8, 2004. It is now technically your
first birthday! Tomorrow you and your mommy fly to Newfoundland to see your
nanny for 3 weeks, so I'm allowed to spoil you as much as I want today!
In fact, when you wake up at 5 AM, I'm going to bring you back into bed with us
so that we can snuggle for a little bit.
Ok bobbaloo, it's time for bed now. I love you very much.
Love,
Abu
